My daughter Brigitte has been "spirited" from the moment she was born.
She was often inconsolable as a newborn and was quickly diagnosed with
Colic. I suffered through her first 4 months of life feeling out of
control and guilty that I could not somehow give her any relief. The
toll it took on me as a sleep deprived and hormonal new mother was
exhausting. I hate to admit it, but I did not feel the euphoria and
instant love that other parents described after welcoming their first
child into the world. At best we were doing 'damage control' by trying a
variety of seemingly useless treatments recommended by her
Pediatrician. A few of them seemed to help, but the crying continued
until she finally "outgrew" the problem. As she matured into her toddler
stages, she continued to be extremely emotional, verbal and high
energy. She also began having long wakeful periods during the night
where she would talk, sing, and generally keep the house awake for hours
at a time. We loved her outgoing inquisitive nature, but sometimes
yearned for a normal experience at the grocery store or at church, that
didn't involve an embarrassing meltdown which was usually the result of
an over-tired child.

My son was born when my daughter was just 22 months old.
During his birth there was a slight complication with the umbilical cord
being wrapped around his neck and our Doctor ended up having to use the
vacuum to assist in a very speedy delivery. At around two weeks of age
he developed the same painful cry that my daughter had experienced as a
newborn. He was constipated, gassy, and unable to sleep due to his
gastric issues. It seemed like my entire day was filled with trying to
calm a fussy baby. Our pediatrician again diagnosed the problem as
colic, but I was also concerned that there may be pain he was
experiencing due to the traumatic nature of his delivery. I didn't know
where to turn for help. I had both a colicky baby to care for AND a
high energy toddler that would not sleep through the night. It quickly
became apparent after a few weeks that I could no longer cope. I didn't
think I could stand to "wait it out" as I had done previously with my
first baby. I knew that there had to be some way to help my children who
were quickly spiraling out of control.
In my teenage years I had nannied for a remarkable
family who had chosen Chiropractic care as their first line of defense
when it came to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I had on a few
occasions even taken their two small children in for their adjustments
at Dr. Dudley's office. I never fully understood the science behind the
practice, but I did know that her children were by far the happiest and
healthiest children I had ever cared for. It was she, my friend and
previous employer that finally gave me the confidence to go against the
grain and seek out Chiropractic care for my young children.
Our first visit to Dr. Dudley's office was like a
breath of fresh air. Finally we had found someone who could offer a
treatment plan that made sense. After a few short diagnostic tests Dr.
Dudley was able to pinpoint exactly where the problems were. He
carefully explained the procedures and made sure we understood exactly
what he would do to correct the issues. We never felt uninformed or
pressured to proceed in a direction that felt uncomfortable. In fact my
husband was shocked at just how little actually needed to be done in
order to correct the problems. A few minor adjustments over the course
of a few weeks was all it was going to take. We left our first
appointment feeling like a huge weight had been lifted from our
shoulders.
The results from the adjustments were drastic and
noticeable after just two weeks of care. My daughter slept through the
night for the first time in over 8 months. She was still her wild little
self, but she was getting the sleep she required to make it through her
day with less emotional energy. She has not had an insomniac episode
SINCE we started care. I cannot tell you how life changing this has been
for her and our family. We are ALL having more patience throughout our
day!
My son is now two months old and his colic has
VANISHED. He is the most content and easy going baby I have ever seen!
My friends and family cannot believe the change they have seen in him,
and some days neither can I. Simply put he is not the baby he was four
weeks ago. His gastric issues have completely resolved. His constipation
and gas have disappeared and we no longer spend our evenings trying to
console a fussy baby. Now we just get to love and enjoy him!
My only regret is that I did not seek Chiropractic
care for my children sooner. Dr. Dudley has a gift for working with
children, and we certainly owe him our sanity! We recommend him with the
utmost confidence and plan on entrusting our future wellness needs in
his care.
Sincerely,
